AFTERCARE

  • Wash your hands well with antibacterial soap before you clean your piercing.
  • Make your sea salt solution - ¼ teaspoon sea salt per 8oz (one cup) of  warm water.
  • Soak your piercing by placing your cup of solution up against your piercing for about 5 minutes.
  • Air-dry, as patting or wiping dry with a towel can spread the very bacteria you were seeking to avoid.
  • Repeat this process twice a day for the length of time needed. (each piercing is different).
  • For oral piercings rinse your mouth with salt water for 30 seconds 4 – 5 times a day and after every meal.
  • For genital piercings avoid sex for the 1st three days and then only with protection. make sure the condoms have no spermicide!
  • Do not touch your piercings. Dirty fingers are an excellent way to get a piercing infected.
  • Check your jewellery from time to time to make sure the ends are screwed on tight.
  • Wear clean loose clothing and change your bed sheets and bedding more often. make sure they are clean..
  • Avoid  kissing with oral piercings and oral sex with genital piercings.
  • Keep your pets, make up and hair products away from the piercing.
  • Do not listen to experts you meet down at the pub.
  • Avoid swimming pools for the 1st two weeks

The healthier your lifestyle, the more quickly you can heal. This includes eating well, easing stress and getting enough sleep. Avoid getting pierced while you are sick, as your immune system is already strained and healing will be harder. Reduce smoking and avoid recreational drug use.
